Important Notes

The rate of capsule drainage depends on:

  • Tree species
  • Time of year
  • Soil moisture
  • Humidity
  • Air temperature
  • Tree health
  • • A good practice is to install a single test capsule and timing the drainage
  • • The test capsule should drain within 10-30 minutes
  • • If capsules are draining slower, leave the test capsule on for 24 hours and see if it is empty. If it is not empty, its not a good day to treat and give us a call to troubleshoot.

CORRECT DOSAGE =

(circumference ÷ 6 or diameter ÷ 2)

Person measuring tree with measuring tape
  • • Measure the tree at breast height either by diameter or circumference
  • • Divide circumference by 6 or diameter by 2 to determine the correct number of capsules needed

Step 3. Spacing the capsules

Capsules spaced around base of treePerson placing capsules around tree
  • • Space the capsules evenly around the base of the tree avoiding the valleys between the buttress roots
  • • Capsules will end up between 4 and 6 inches apart

Step 4. Drilling into the tree
